Acts 16:29-31

Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Acts 2:27-38

Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

From these narratives, the steps are
1. Repent of sins
2. Believe in and submit to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
3. Be baptized

Now of course, these things are done in response to hearing the gospel. What I am doing is presenting the gospel in accordance to Romans 10:13-15.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Sir, your error is not that you believe in the doctrines of grace, for I do as well, but that you wield the portion of them in the wrong place with respect to the wrong activity. What you are saying belongs AFTER the evangelistic preaching - which is what I am doing after a fashion - is done. What you are speaking of is dealt with in Romans 10:16-18.

But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

Pardon me, sir, but allow me to point out that those who misapply the doctrines of grace often fall into the trap of hardly - if ever - preaching to anyone at all, and further what little preaching they ever get around to doing being mostly to the converted, and doing very little with respect to the unsaved other than telling them that they are unsaved.

Instead, people who correctly apply the doctrines of grace preach more, not less, and offer Christ to sinners ever the more. Look, the Bible does make it clear that people accept and reject Jesus Christ. That is something that Calvinists have to understand. The doctrines of grace do not deny that people accept and reject Jesus Christ. Instead, the purpose of the doctrines of grace is to explain WHY some people reject Jesus Christ and some accept Him. The people who reject Jesus Christ do so because they are not Christ's sheep and do not hear or respond to the sound of His voice, the people who accept Christ do so because they have been given to God the Son by God the Father. But we have no idea who are the sheep and who are not, we do not even know who are the sheep and who are the goats. Only God knows that. So we are to not pretend that we are smarter than we are and instead concentrate on fulfilling our Bible-ordained role in this process and do our jobs, which is to pray and preach. When we pray and preach, God works out the process of using our prayers and preaching to save who He will. But make no mistake: we must pray and we must preach.

Now looking at your own website, I do not discern a clear effort to preach to the lost. I entreat and implore you to do your Bible-ordained duty and remedy that situation as soon as possible so that whatever unsaved soul happens across your site might learn that he is a sinner and read the gospel of Jesus Christ, and you having done your job God will do His as He sees fit. Thank you.

My reply to the three step plan of salvation is centered in the infallible written word of God, according to my own spiritual conversion when the Holy Spirit drew me to THE Glorified Lord Jesus Christ in 1987. If this is in respect salvation in Jesus Christ, it goes like this, according to Scripture. John 6:37-40,44; 10:16; Romans 8:28-30 Before the foundation of the world, before He created the heavens and the earth, God foreknew, elected and chose in Christ certain Jews and Gentiles, predestinated them to be adopted as eternal sons, to be of the eternal priesthood in the Holy City New Jerusalem, the eternal tabernacle of God in the new heaven and the new earth. Those whom God has chosen in Christ, in the season and time wherein He has purposed to effectually bring them to repentance, faith and the new spiritual birth, The Holy Spirit draws them to THE Glorified Lord Jesus Christ. It is an effectual drawing and calling, because in the gospel of God, there is this eternal prescriptive power to effectually bring that person to true repentance, the godly sorrow that works a repentance to never be regretted, faith and the new birth. To the elect of God chosen in Christ, this effectual call is irresistible, and the responses is seen in the first disciples, Cornelius, and Saul. I have no knowledge of a three step plan of salvation. No one can truly come true the true church which is the spiritual body of Christ, come to true repentance, faith and the new birth, except that God chose them in Christ before the foundation of the world. The Scripture is clear concerning the subject of God's eternal redemptive plan of salvation in Christ Jesus.

How about what God says instead of theologians? Please do not misquote Romans 10:9-10 either. Rom. 10:9-10 is how it happens. Homologeo (sp?) means say the same thing, in other words you are in agreement with God. Romans 10:9 says make Jesus Lord and believe God raised him from the dead. I know that does not make sense to some of you but that is what God had written. He had that written because He knows what He meant. Unlike us at times God always means what He says and says what He means. God Bless in Christ Jesus. Ron

Excellent article! The depth, and yet the clarity should help many people no matter what their previous understanding of the necessity of salvation was. May God continue to bless you!

a suggestion it your steps above....you didn't mention the shedding of blood, for the remission of our sins. (Just a thought)
Also, how about talking or explaining to who ever reads this the subject of how did we become sinners....or another words, talking about original sin from Adam and Eve. Hope I said all that in a kind way, otherwise, I enjoyed your teaching!
